How to install
Takes less than a minute.
Download and unzip
Download BalVault.zip (link above), then unzip it to a folder of your choice. About 50 MB.
Launch BalVault
Open the unzipped folder and double-click BalVaultStart.bat. This installs dependencies, creates a Start Menu shortcut, and launches BalVault.
Get your SimpleFIN token
Visit bridge.simplefin.org to sign up ($1.50/month). After connecting your banks, copy your SimpleFIN setup token.
Paste token into BalVault
Launch BalVault from the Start Menu (BalVaultStart.bat created the shortcut in step 2). Paste your SimpleFIN token and set your CSV output path. BalVault will start fetching balances immediately.
Setting up SimpleFIN Bridge
SimpleFIN handles bank connections so BalVault doesn't have to.
Sign up at bridge.simplefin.org
Create an account with SimpleFIN. It's $1.50/month for read-only access to your financial accounts.
Connect your banks
Use SimpleFIN's web interface to link your checking, savings, credit cards, loans, and investment accounts. SimpleFIN handles 2FA and security questions.
Copy your setup token
Once your accounts are linked, SimpleFIN gives you a setup token — a long string of characters. Copy it to your clipboard.
Paste into BalVault
Open BalVault, paste the token, and click Connect. BalVault will fetch your balances and write them to your CSV.
SimpleFIN is a separate service
BalVault and SimpleFIN are independent products. SimpleFIN handles bank authentication; BalVault handles the CSV export. You pay SimpleFIN $1.50/month directly — BalVault never touches that relationship.
